Dental Implants vs. Dentures: Which Option is Right for You?

Dental Implant

Tooth loss for any reason can lead to several health concerns, and, as such, you need to replace lost teeth. In order to replace missing teeth, dental implants and dentures are the two most common options. Both have their benefits, but the right choice depends on your individual needs and oral health.

Dental Implants

Dental implants are a permanent solution for anyone missing some of their teeth. The process involves inserting a titanium post in the jawbone to act as a tooth root or anchor, over which a false tooth sits. Over time, the bone fuses with the implant, creating a strong foundation. Sometimes, a bone graft dental procedure is required to strengthen the jawbone before placing the implant. Implants look and feel like natural teeth, offering durability and convenience.

Dentures

Dentures are removable prosthetics that replace multiple teeth. They are cost-effective and non-invasive compared to implants. However, they may not feel as secure and can require adjustments over time. Dentures might not be ideal if you have gum infected around the tooth or significant bone loss.

Choosing the Right Option

Whether you choose dental implants or dentures depends on factors like your oral health, budget, and personal preferences. Implants are ideal for those looking for a permanent, low-maintenance solution. Dentures are a good option for those who prefer a non-surgical approach. If you have gum disease, ensure you receive proper periodontal disease treatment before deciding.
