Recovering from Dental Implants

Smoothies

Getting dental implants is a complex surgical procedure, and the recovery process varies according to the needs of every patient. However, what you do at home during the recovery period plays a critical role in the procedure’s success. Here are four tips to help you in recovering from dental implants.

1. Eat Soft and Nutritious Food

Wondering what to eat after having a dental implant surgery? According to Newington dental extraction specialists, you must avoid eating anything spicy or hot during the initial 48 hours after the surgery. Instead, opt for soft and nutritious foods that are easily chewable such as vegetables, fruits, protein shakes, and smoothies.

2. Rest

Unlike any other surgery, having adequate rest is essential to speed up your dental implant recovery process. Note that pushing yourself will only slow down the process of recovering from dental implants. Therefore, avoid participating in strenuous activities as it will only increase the risk of being hit in the face.

3. Rinse with Salt Water

Saltwater rinses are highly recommended after a Newington bone grafting session. Not only are saltwater rinses soothing, but they also decrease the number of bacteria in your mouth without causing any irritation. To make a saltwater rinse, add one tablespoon of salt to a 150 ml glass of water. Swish the mixture in your mouth for 30 seconds before spitting it out.

4. Practice Good Oral Hygiene

Dental implants require proper oral hygiene practices, even though they aren’t natural teeth. Note that your oral hygiene routine might vary depending on the recovery stage. Therefore, follow your dentist’s instructions to the tee, keep your mouth as clean as possible, and avoid smoking.
